Placing boulders around your landscape beds individually and in small arrangements looks awesome, plus it adds some variety in the landscaping compared to only having plants. Boulders can help to break up the slope on a hillside or create an informal border at the bottom of a slope to retain the grade above.

Some common placement ideas are under small trees where the sunlight is limited or around the corners of the house. We like to arrange a few individually throughout the bed and then a cluster or two when possible. Sometimes we will lean the boulders on each other or use one to prop up the other. We can get large natural boulders in various earthy tan and brown colors, as well as grey boulders that are a little more angular.
