Local work, start to finish.

Pleasant Hills is established South Hills housing: older homes, long-time owners, and utilities that have been in the ground for decades. That is the kind of job we are set up for, where the work under the surface matters as much as the finish on top. On our Pleasant Hills driveway project we replaced the water and sewer lines beneath the old asphalt, handled the permits and inspections, and put the owner's red stone back when the pour was done.

Permits and stormwater in Pleasant Hills.

Pleasant Hills Borough sets its own permit and stormwater requirements. Here is what the borough itself says on its website:

  • Before starting a home improvement or driveway project, check with the borough's Building/Zoning Department to see what permits are required. Source: Pleasant Hills Borough website.
  • The borough's stormwater (MS4) page asks residents to use fertilizers and pesticides sparingly, to keep leaves and grass clippings out of the street rather than blowing them into it, and never to dump anything into storm drains. Source: Pleasant Hills Borough MS4 page.

On our Pleasant Hills driveway project, we handled all permits and inspections required by Allegheny County as part of the job.

Next door and across the fence.

Pleasant Hills and Jefferson Hills share a school district area, and we build in both: see our Jefferson Hills landscaping page. For fencing, our sister company Q&A Fencing has a page for fencing in Pleasant Hills.

A 50-year-old asphalt driveway, replaced.

After nearly 50 years in his home, the owner was ready to replace the asphalt driveway and the aging water and sewer lines beneath it. We removed the old driveway, excavated for the utilities, and poured a new 4-inch concrete driveway, significantly wider than the old one, with a red exposed aggregate border to match the owner's taste for red stone. We set aside the existing red stone and boulders during construction and put them back when the driveway was done.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer free estimates in Pleasant Hills?

+
Yes. Quinten walks every Pleasant Hills property himself before anything gets quoted or scheduled. Call, text, use the contact form, or book a time on Calendly.

What does a retaining wall cost in Pleasant Hills?

+
It depends on length, height, and how hard the site is to access. Our retaining wall calculator turns those inputs into a realistic price range using our actual installed pricing in the South Hills, so you can run your numbers before we visit. Concrete footers, railroad ties, and difficult removals are priced at the site visit.

What does a paver patio cost in Pleasant Hills?

+
Patio pricing comes down to size and material choices. The paver patio calculator on this site uses our real installed pricing to give you a range in about a minute.

Do you pour concrete driveways in Pleasant Hills?

+
Yes. We replaced a 50-year-old asphalt driveway in Pleasant Hills with a wider 4-inch concrete driveway and a red exposed aggregate border, including excavation for new water and sewer lines. The full project is on our project page.

How do you handle drainage on Pleasant Hills properties?

+
The clay under most South Hills lots holds water instead of letting it drain, so every wall we build gets a real drain behind it and every patio gets graded to move water off the surface.

Do I need a permit for a wall, patio, or driveway in Pleasant Hills?

+
Some projects do. Pleasant Hills Borough tells residents to check with its Building/Zoning Department to see what permits are required before starting a home improvement or driveway project. On our Pleasant Hills driveway project we handled all the permits and inspections required by Allegheny County as part of the job, and we walk through the requirements with you during the estimate.

Which neighborhoods near Pleasant Hills do you cover?

+
All of Pleasant Hills and Jefferson Hills, plus the surrounding South Hills: Bethel Park, South Park, Whitehall, Baldwin, Upper St. Clair, and Mt. Lebanon.

Are you licensed and insured?

+
Yes. Q&A Landscaping is a PA registered home improvement contractor (PA HIC #PA116241), fully insured, and a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating.

Is there a warranty on walls and patios?

+
Yes. Retaining walls and patios carry a 5-year craftsmanship warranty.

Do you take small jobs, or only big projects?

+
Both. The same crew that builds full wall and patio projects also handles mulch refreshes, cleanups, and planting beds. Small jobs are how many of our long-term customers started with us.

Who will actually be at my property?

+
Quinten quotes every job personally, and the core crew has been together for years. You will not get a rotating cast of subcontractors.

When should I book for spring or summer work?

+
Earlier than you think. The season runs early spring through winter and the calendar fills weeks ahead, so the best move is getting on the schedule before the season you want the work done.

Also serving the neighbors.
