A retaining wall is a long-term investment, so do not DIY it. We have built hundreds of professional retaining walls in the South Hills. Every wall is built with Geogrid and comes with a drainage system, on a compacted stone base, and we finish the job by fixing the grass or landscaping around it. Retaining walls carry a 5-year craftsmanship warranty.
Versa-Lok blocks are the most structural and cost-effective option for retaining walls. They come in different colors, they pin together, and they are heavy, which extends the life of the wall, but they have to be built correctly. We also use other segmental blocks such as Techo-Bloc and EP Henry, and build Rosetta outcropping and boulder walls. Compaction of the base is the most important part of the job, and every wall gets a drain behind it.

A Versa-Lok wall along the hillside opened up this tight backyard. We installed a Techo-Bloc patio and walkway designed to comply with Bethel Park's stormwater regulations, and every drop that falls is captured by a drain built into the base.
